代表選考会には、腕自慢4091のプレイヤーが参加。今回その結果を踏まえ、ウイイレ日本代表の岡田武史監督によって選出された日本最強の「ウイイレ日本代表」15人を、岡田監督自らが発表しました。
15名の「ウイイレ岡田ジャパン」は、来る2月14日に岡田監督采配のもと、日本代表戦を闘います。対戦相手は、2013年ウイイレ世界大会王者のPhayton氏。過去の同大会における日本人選手の最高位は2011年の準優勝で、優勝経験は無し。ウイイレ岡田ジャパン15名は、岡田監督と共に日の丸を背負い、世界王者を倒すべく、ピッチに立ちます。尚、ウイイレ日本代表戦では、代表メンバーのうち11名が1チームとなり、11人のマルチプレイにて戦います。世界最強の男を11人の連携で倒すことができるのか。その歴史的一戦の模様はUstream/Youtube Liveにて全世界に生配信されます。
「ウイイレ日本代表に選ばれた皆さん、本当にお疲れ様でした。予選から長い闘いだったと思いますが、素晴らしい試合をして頂きました。レベルの高さに驚かされました。そして、選ばれたからには、これから世界と闘うという責任感を持ってもらいたいと思います。我々がどういうサッカーをやるかというと、やっぱり、日本人が世界で勝っていくには、皆が力を合わせて、一つになって戦うということが大事です。つまり自分たちがボールを保持する時間を長くして、相手が攻める時間を短くする、ディフェンスの時間を短くして、取られたらすぐ取り返す。そういうサッカーをやりたい。勝つか、負けるかというと、大上段に構えて、戦術論、システム論に走りがちだが、実際には本当に小さなことが勝負を分ける。勝負の神様は細部に宿る。その小さな事をつぶしていってもらいたいと思います。
